Abstract

The present invention reduces this risk by preventing the user from touching the prongs of an electric plug before the plug is fully disengaged from the electric socket. It includes a plate mounted over the electrical outlet to expose the sockets and has a pair of non-conductive flexible cylinders that surround the socket to prevent fingers from coming into contact with a live plug. The cylinders are long enough that the plug must be fully disengaged from the outlet before contact with the user is possible.

Electric sockets cause countless injuries every year to both children and adults. Many accidents result from users touching the prongs of an electric plug before the plug can be fully disengaged from the outlet. The present invention reduces this risk by preventing the user from touching the prongs of an electric plug before the plug is fully disengaged from the electric socket. It includes a plate mounted over the electrical outlet to expose the sockets and has a pair of non-conductive flexible cylinders that surround the socket to prevent fingers from coming into contact with a live plug. The cylinders are long enough that the plug must be fully disengaged from the outlet before contact with the user is possible.
