Abstract

The present invention is an apparatus of an in-line skate wheel including a wear indication system. The wheel wear indication system incorporates a hard plastic wheel hub and a plurality of concentric indicator wheel resin layers of various colors embedded in an outer resin. As the outer layer resin wears away, the first indicator resin is exposed. As the initial indicator resin wears away the next indicator resin is exposed. A corresponding chart decodes the degree of wear the wheel has undergone based upon the color of the resin visible at the wheels outermost edge.

The exercise and recreational equipment market is growing rapidly each year, specifically the in-line skate market. In-line skates offer an enjoyable alternative to traditional exercise. With the growth of the industry, consumers desire innovative advances in the in-line skate technology to benefit performance, easy of use and safety. An increasing supply of replacement and aftermarket products are available to consumers.

The in-line skate and in-line skate accessory manufacturer that can consistently offer innovative quality products is positioned to expand market share.

In-line skate wheel wear is dependent on such factors as: usage time, the amount of weight the wheels are bearing, the surface quality, etc. The wheel's wear can greatly affect the skate's performance and the safety of the user. The wear rate is relatively unpredictable, therefore a wear indication system would greatly aid in the users assessment of the wheels current state.
