The handheld book monitor eliminates the need for heavy paper textbooks, illuminates for night reading, and includes a digital bookmark.

Figure 1 Perspective view of a handheld book monitor

Figure 1 shows a perspective view of handheld book monitor 100 and includes a display screen (display) 110, preprogrammed readable cartridge (cartridge) 120, cartridge slot (slot) 130, previous page pushbutton 140, bookmark pushbutton 150, and next page pushbutton 160. Cartridge 120 is a conventional readable cartridge programmed with specific text information (such as a course textbook) and is inserted into slot 130. A conventional digital text conversion process generates a full page of text onto display 110. Previous page pushbutton 140 and next page pushbutton 160 allow the user to select desired text. Bookmark pushbutton 150 places an electronic bookmark when activated to allow a page of text to be viewed at a later time.
