Abstract

Electroluminescents are an inexpensive, low energy and reliable light source for low light demands. Electroluminescence technology offers a highly efficient light source applicable for many solutions. Applications have been developed for use in areas ranging from watches to nightlights. New applications could offer creative and advantageous solutions to existing problems. How to illuminate a circuit breaker box? When a circuit breaker breaks the electricity to the house lights often go out. It is then difficult to read/locate the breaker switches in the circuit breaker box. What is needed is a way to illuminate a circuit breaker box. The present invention is an apparatus consisting of a traditional circuit breaker box with an illuminated border surrounding each of the circuit breaker switches. The illuminated border is an electroluminescent material powered either by a rechargeable battery or by the electricity provided to the circuit breaker box.

Figure 1 illustrates an illuminated circuit breaker box including a circuit breaker box 110, which contains circuit breaker switches 120 that control the electrical circuits in the building. Electroluminescent breaker border 130 surrounds each circuit breaker switch 120, thus providing adequate light to enable the user to locate and read the breaker switches.
