Coffee Maker with Brewing Calculator

Millions of people use automatic drip coffee makers every day. A common problem with such devices, however, is that calculating the water to coffee ratio can be difficult, especially when making different amounts of coffee than one is accustomed to. What is needed is a way to take the guesswork out of coffee brewing.

The present invention is an improved coffee maker with a brewing calculator that determines the amount of coffee required for a given amount of water. Coffee maker 100 includes water reservoir 110, strength selector 120, scale 130 (not visible), coffee calculator 140, and cone filter 150, as arranged in Figure 1.

In operation, a user fills reservoir 110 with water and selects a desired strength (e.g., mild, medium, strong) using strength selector 120. The water in reservoir 110 is weighed by scale 130 and coffee calculator 140 displays the correct amount of ground coffee required based on the strength selected by the user and the weight of the water in reservoir 110. The user then fills cone filter 150 with the quantity of ground coffee suggested by coffee calculator 140.
