Abstract

Whether it is a tomcat out for a midnight prowl or a Boston Terrier out for an evening stroll with his owner, countless pets are run over by automobiles every year. Many of these tragedies could have been avoided if the pet were made more visible to drivers, especially at night. What is needed is a way to make pets more visible at night. The present invention is a motion activated pet collar lighting system that includes a conventional pet collar with several battery-powered, motion-activated lights. In operation, a pet wears the pet collar in the conventional way, such as around the neck. Movement by the pet sets off the motion activated lights, thereby making the pet more visible at night.
