Abstract

The dynamic range of an Operational Amplifier is increased by using a variable impedance in the feedback path. The variable impedance is provided by an FET 22 the conduction of which, and therefore the impedance thereof, is controlled by an automatic gain control signal Vagc. The resulting amplifier is particularly useful as a receiving element in a fiber of the transmission system.
