   A selective call receiver comprises a video display 1 and/or a speaker/microphone 2 for presenting a received message in a language selected by buttons 3. The received message is translated within a microprocessor within the selective call receiver. Additionally, the microphone 2 may receive spoken words for conversion to a digital signal for translation and presentation.

   Numeral/letter buttons 4 and cursor buttons 5 pmvide an input from the user for editing stored messages or enter- ing messages. The numeral/letter buttons 4 include raised portions on the surface thereof for identifying the numeral or letter in Braille.
