Abstract

The reduction of parts is always an important factor in any design. Since the majority of our pagers require both a lighted display and an illuminated visual alert, it would often be advantageous to combine these functions so as to reduce the number of plastic parts and illuminating devices required. The incorporation of the alert lens with the light diffuser, which illuminates the display, would allow the use of at least one less lamp and one less molded plastic part, therefore reducing pager assembly time, material costs and factory DPU's (defects per unit).
