Abstract

In the process of building products for the consumer industry it is often desirable, if not necessary, to apply a printed label to an electrical cord for instruction, infor- mation, or warning purposes. There are several options in use today which will accomplish this task, including, but not limited to, small paper labels wrapped around the cord and folded on themselves (figure l), cloth labels similarly applied, or a paper label wrapped around the cord and wrapped upon itselfftigure 2).

PRINTED SELF-ADHESIVE LABEL FOR

INSTALLATION ON A ROUND ELECTRICAL CORD

by Harry R Bean Jr.

This invention is a label which, while in the flat state, has a hole cut out of the middle (figure 3). This hole cut

in the middle will allow the use of label material which will look nicer and last longer than the aforementioned existing labels. This method of cutting the label material allows the label manufacturer to use label material with a high degree of memory, or a high tendency to seek its previous flat form, (ie, sheet polycarbonate), which, if used in any of the aforementioned manners, would tend to unwrap or unfold itself over time. The use of polycarbonate sheet produces a much nicer look than a cloth or paper label and will last longer than a paper label. The label is installed on the cord by wrapping it around the cord and sticking it to itself(figure 4).
