IMPROVED MONITOR AND RATT BUTTON ACTUATION FOR THE SABER RADIO

by Vickie Haley, Craig Bartling and Scott Richards

In certain environmental conditions where the radio operator must wear gloves or mittens, actuation of the Saber RMT and monitor buttons can become difficult.

This elastomeric boot will slide onto the radio from the bottom and with its larger molded-in buttons, easier actuation will be possible. These larger buttons on the boot will have a small plunger on the bottom of the button which will actuate the existing Saber radio button. A small lock-

ing rib molded on the underside of the boot will grab the top of the radio and preveqt the boot from sliding off the bottom of the radio. The radio's ergo bump will prevent the boot from being removed from the top.

This boot can be retrofitted to the radio without any radio mod&&ion, and will help satisfy customer require- ments for easier button actuation and can also be adapted to be used on other two-way radios.
