Method for Managing Applications for Web-Based Enterprise Management

Currently, applications management for WBEM (web-based enterprise management) is fragmented.  In addition, industry standards have not yet been agreed upon for WBEM applications management.  Because of the fragmentation and lack of standards, there are key drawbacks to current WBEM applications management:

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h                 Not all applications support remote management.  Currently, there is remote management support only on local area networks.

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h                 Very few applications support command-line and browser-based management.

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h                 Every application has a different management user interface.

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h                 Developers must redesign for each application.

Disclosed is a method of WBEM-based application management.  The disclosed method supports standards-based, remote management of applications.  The disclosed method has the following features:

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h           Is standards-based

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h           Supports many user interfaces, including command-line, browser, and GUI (graphical user interface) interfaces.

SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h           Supports a single command set for identical services.

The disclosed method of WBEM-based application management standardizes all the components of application remote-management.  The disclosed method standardizes the components by making use of existing infrastructure.  Standardized components in the disclosed method are:
