Abstract

The use of a wireless RF public announcement and lighting system has become a viable alternative to wired systems. Wtth the recent terrorist act at The World Trade Center in NYC it is evident that most public announcement and emergency lighting systems are not fool proof no matter how much redundancy is incorporated into a wired system. This is due in part to the fact that these type of systems are traditionally controlled from a central location or complex.

  The use of a wireless RF public announcement and lighting system has become a viable alternative to wired systems. Wtth the recent terrorist act at The World Trade Center in NYC it is evident that most public announcement and emergency lighting systems are not fool proof no matter how much redundancy is incorporated into a wired system. This is due in part to the fact that these type of systems are traditionally controlled from a central location or complex.

  The system would be designed to operate in large high rise buildings and resist many environmental conditions. It would be designed to replace existing wall mounted emergency lighting boxes that are placed in all emergency escape ways. The wall mounted units would be designed to report poling messages, such as battery condition, light failure, AC power failure or even tampering of the unit back to a central location. The use of radiating cable and On Frequency Repeater would have to be used to allow for in building RF propagation.

OPERATION:

  The purpose of the wireless emergency lighting/ PA system is to eliminate a fixed wired command and control center.
