MESSAGE ALERT AFTER NO-ALERT TIME OR NO-ALERT PERIOD

by Upendra Bandaranayake Samaratunge

This article describes a feature for a pager to facilitate an alert after a preset No-Alert Timer expires or after a No-Alert period.

A user may be offered one or both of the above modes of the fcaNre. When this feature is enabled, the user will be able to set a No-Alert Timer or a No-Alert period for alerts. The No-Alert Timer or the No-Alert start and stop time can be set by the user using a screen similar to, for example, an Auto On-Off setting screen available in most existing pagers.

The timer will be reset to '0' if any message received during the time-out period is read before

the No-Alert Timer expires or if the pager is switched off. Thereafter, the pager will alert normally until the feature is again selected by the user. Figure 2 shows a flowchart of the No-Alert

Timer mode.
