ABSTRACT

  At night or at any time when user does not want to be disturbed by ringing of cellular phone, tele- phone, or any similar device, there is a definite need to have a feature, or device that will distinguish desirable from undesirable calls and accordingly control ringing signal. If the ringer is switched off, or telephone disconnected, user could miss some very important, desirable, or urgent messages.

  Currently available features and devices will allow user to either activate the ring selector device (call routing based on type of ringing), manually switch off the ringer, or use call-display to visually find out who is calling. In the case of several telephone devices, it would be expensive to install such devices at all needed places. These devices and features will not fully resolve the above described problem.

SOLUTION

  A solution could be implemented either at the Central Unit, or remote server, depending on the system architecture, or at the user's site.

CENTRAL UNIT/REMOTE SERVER

  Using a telephone keypad or contacting service provider, user would be able to request (de)activa- tion of the service/feature. Activation procedure, user interface, time of (de)activation could be selected using existing devices and procedures.
