Abstract

In SmartZone systems, Supergroups are created when up to 40 TalkGroups are patched together. To create these Supergroups. the first Talkgroup becomes the Supergroup, and subsequent Talkgroups are added to the Supergroup. If, when a Talkgroup is added, it is involved in an active Dispatch Call, it will not be placed into the Supergroup. Instead it will be placed into an Audio Patch with the Supergroup, the console operator has no indication of whether the Talkgroup was successfully placed into the Supergroup, or if it was placed in an audio patch. Any Talkgroup that is placed into an audio patch with the Supergroup, will be placed into the Supergroup once the Zone Controller receives the End of Call packet from the Associated Site Controller. This could take an indefinite amount of time in a System that is Message Tnmked.

  Problems begin to occur when the console operator is making Dispatch calls to the Supergroup. As long as the operator uses the MSEL button on the operator position, all Talkgroups that were successfully placed into the Supergroup and

those that were audio patched, will hear the Transmit audio from the Dispatcher. If the operator uses the Instant Transmit or the General Transmit button, then only the Talkgro'ups which were
