Micro cellular communication system sites are base sites with limited coverage range that needs to be designed in a way to allow the site to have a min- imal impact on the location. In addition to small size of the electrical enclosure the site equipment must be designed without fans for active ah-cooling. These micro cellular sites have a need for a cooling system that has very high reliability and makes no noise.

BACKGROUND

  Micro cellular communication system sites are base sites with limited coverage range that needs to be designed in a way to allow the site to have a min- imal impact on the location. In addition to small size of the electrical enclosure the site equipment must be designed without fans for active ah-cooling. These micro cellular sites have a need for a cooling system that has very high reliability and makes no noise.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

  Existing micro cellular communication systems use an outer solar shield to prevent energy from the sun from increasing the temperature of the equip- ment to unacceptable levels. Figure 1 shows the use of a new solar shield designed to also prevent this solar energy induced heatmg of the electrical equip- ment, but in addition it has tire feature of using a thermally isolated section that absorbs solar heat. This section heats enclosure drawing cool outside air through the electrical equipment without active fans.
