INTRODUCTION SOLUTION

  The servicing of electronic circuits is becoming increasingly complex. There are variety of soldering irons available that will address some of the prob- lems in repairing the circuits. There are units that use one hand operation, but need larger clearance at target area of solder. In addition, it is difficult to control the precise amount of solder to the target area with these units.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

  The Self Dispensing Soldering Iron is equipped with two mechanisms~(see Figure 1) that are described below:

  A reel that is mounted on the unit carries solder wire. and it is linked to a! trigger mechanism. When the trigger mechanism is activated by pressing, the solder wire advances. 'The solder wire travels through the barrel and the hollow tip. This process frees up one hand of the operator while soldering.
