Method for a connector extender

Disclosed is a method for a connector extender. Benefits include improved ease of manufacturing.

Description

The disclosed method is a plastic card that enables two connectors to be joined together to function as one larger connector (see Figure 1). The method maintains the alignment of the two connectors on the printed wiring board (PWB) through the manufacturing process. After the connectors are soldered on to the PWB, the card can be reused or thrown away.

Advantages

·        The disclosed method provides advantages, including:

·        Improved ease of manufacturing due to the reuse of existing sizes of connectors

·        Improved cost effectiveness due to high volume pricing and avoiding the requirement to retool for a larger size connector
