Disclosed is a method for using a newly designed component on a VDHM daughter card connector when using a universal electromechanical press. Benefits include increased structural support, and the ability to use various VHDM daughter card connectors that use the existing press fit process.

General Description

The disclosed method is loaded over the connector before the connector is placed on the PCB board. The disclosed method provides a level contact surface for the anvil, allowing the press to apply pressure evenly over the connector during the installation process. It also provides structural support for a wafer design connector, aiding in the placement of the connector (see Figure 1 and 2).

Advantages

  • Increases the beat rate per connector by 6.5 seconds
  • Provides structural support for connectors with lengths exceeding four inches
  • Adapts to multiple versions of connectors
  • Attaches to the connector, preventing the disclosed method from being loaded incorrectly
