DESCRIPTION

  This article proposes a new feature for commu- nication devices, such as mobile phones and pagers, operating in a communication system. With this new feature, messages for a communication device includes an expiry time limit.

  Implementing this new feature requires the com- munication device to decode a code that is embed- ded in a message. The code contains information

about the expiry time limit for the message. The expiry time lit can be flexibly set by a sender of the message or automatically predetermined by the communication system. On receipt of the message, the communication device keeps track of the expiry time limit. Upon lapse of the expiry time limit, the message is automatically deleted.

  An example of how the expiry time limit is set by the sender is shown in the diagram below.
