INHOUSE AERIAL WITH FIRE PROTECTIVE COVER

by Ulrich Heinrich

ABSTRACT

An aerial used for handheld radios combined with a length-tuned aluminium rectangular tube, fit- ted in fire resistant powercable installation tube, wallmounted with standard accessories.

INTRODUCTION

Fire Brigades demand that antemras used in con- junction with their inhouse radio basestation in pub- lic buildings, should resist fue for an adequate peri- od of time. This demand is fulfilled by leakage cable, which is already equipped with fire protective cover, or outdoor antennas. Due to their mechanical construction the fire resistance is guaranteed.

PROBLEM(S) TO BE SOLVED

In many cases it is not possible to install leakage cable due to missing space, disturbing cable leads, metal covered ceilings, etc.

Under these circumstances standard outdoor antennas are being used because their mechanical construction guarantees function over a long time, even within a burning area. On the other hand, the antenna size requires a lot of space, so it is tricky to find a place to install.

PROPOSED SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM(S)

The shown antenna on next page is a coaxial-, or sleeve-, aerial tuned for VHF-Band. The length of the aluminium tube depends on the used frequency.

This construction tits into a standard fire protec- tive plastic tube which is used for power installa- tion. The aerial cable is led through the same tube type to, and into the base station cabinet. Wahmoun...
