AN AUTOMATIC VOICE RECORDING SYSTEM ON SMART PHONE/COMMUNICATOR

by Chua Yong Tong

The voice-recording feature in cellular phones or personal digital assistants (PDAs) records both caller and recipient's voice. A recording process in such devices is manually started by actuating a recording button and ends when a stop button is actuated.

For this recording process, a user needs to anticipate that a conversation is to be recorded.

However, in most situations recording is needed unexpectedly and it is usually too late to record a conversation by actuating the button.

Digital Voice Data

This invention is to provide an Automatic Voice Recording System for Smart Phone or Communicator. The recording process will be triggered by a programmable set of events such as any incoming call or any scheduled events. In this case, spontaneous calls can be recorded.

The following block diagram shows hardware architecture of a Smart phone or Communicator.

Digital voice data from both the speaker and the microphone is provided to a host processor and stored in a memory.

Speaker

A new automatic voice recording system can be implemented using the above existing hardware architecture. This creates a new set of voice server and clients in the host processor as shown in the following state diagram.
