Electronic Transfer of Phone Numbers in Paybox Systems

By Reiner Bingel and Hans-Peter Gaertner

Abstract

Transmitting the phone number electronically from the payer to the payee for a ‘Paybox’.

Introduction

This paper describes improvements in the field of Paybox systems. A Paybox system uses mobile phones for paying bills, e.g. in taxis, restaurants, pizza services, etc. The payer gives his phone number to the payee, and he transmits this phone number and the amount to the Paybox. The Paybox then calls the payer on his mobile phone. After having accepted the amount, the payer enters a code number and the bill will be paid.

Problem To Be Solved

The problem occurs when giving the payee the phone number. It could be misunderstood and it is time consuming and may generate errors when typing in this number manually.

Proposed Solution to the Problem

The problem can easily be solved if the phone number can be given to the payee electronically. The invention foresees a barcode containing the phone number and the Paybox name being on a label, which is placed on the phone. By means of a bar code reader, the phone number may be read quickly and easily by the payee, and transferred immediately to the Paybox.
