Abstract

This invention uses predefined calls to offer a cheap and easy-to-use solution for making calls to an emergency centre.

Introduction

Older or needy people often use special phone equipment at home. This equipment allows the sending of predefined calls to an emergency centre. This may be by pressing a single button on a phone, or via a short distance wireless communication device, which activates the phone. This works fine as long as the person stays at home in their house or flat. Outside this familiar environment, these people sometimes use GSM phones to have the possibility to call for help if needed. A big problem for these people is that modern GSM phones offer a lot of functions and have small keypads and displays. Therefore, such people do not often use mobile phones for this purpose.

This invention uses predefined calls to offer a cheap and easy to use solution for

both applications. The phone is equipped with a special button, which activates a predefined call after pressing the button a specific amount of time. This predefined call can be selected out of a list of calls, which can be either a voice or a text (SMS) message.
