A method of Peer-2-Peer Application Version Control

The method of the invention has two copies of applications that are running on different machines exchange version information periodically. The newer copy transmits portions of itself that update the older copy.

In a network of these applications, all copies would eventually migrate to the same version level. If one copy is updated, then the change would propagate through the network. This would also lessen the load on the source server which would not need to transmit updated applications to all machines on a network.

A further feature would allow the applications to use lower functionality until the update has been received. This would allow a peer to peer application user to continue working while update(s) occur.
