Background

              A requirement has been identified for mobile devices, such as notebook computers, to be active anytime and anywhere. Thermal performance is expected to be an issue when the device is contained in a closed environment, such as a briefcase or notebook bag. The lack of airflow is expected to result in the overheating of the CPU and system components.

General description

              The disclosed method is forced inlet/outlet spacing for notebook vents using the existing notebook skin. Keep-out zones on the exterior of the device allow air into the vents. The design must also include spacing for the hot air to leave the notebook. Vents in the notebook bag or briefcase facilitate airflow and heat dissipation.

              The disclosed method can be either built into the existing notebook exterior or built separately and only used when placed in the bag. The inlet/outlet regions must be prevented from becoming clogged or blocked due to the vents lying up against bag or briefcase.
