Echo : A System and Mechanism to enable people to send SMS / Voice messages to groups and provide call redirection to maintain privacy.

Today the mobile phone is becoming a standard part of a family house hold. In the future such devices will be common place for everyone. Also in this day and age people are more mobile and family and friends are increasingly communicating using new technologies. Imagine this. Its Friday night, the day before Edwards football match. Its raining hard and it is not clear if the match is on. A brief call to Martin the coach does not clarify things as they want to see what the away pitch is like in the morning. So all is in the air. In the morning a couple of calls are made to Martin before the inspection and some people cant get through. Also some people just don't call anyway but will no doubt just turn up. Not Ideal! So what happens, Well the match is on!. Martin is pleased but not sure who will come or not and does not want to spend a great deal of time effort and cost sorting who is coming and finding every one, when really he has other stuff to prepare. Martin is also not keen on giving out his number as people do have the tendency to call late or pass it on to others. At the beginning of the season Martin makes a call to a automated service called 'echo'. echo is built using some existing components but with some novel and inventive parts. A simple call to a standard number and a computer based dialogue establishes that a echo service is required. Martin indicates he wants the service for 1 year initially, and anticipates 15 people who will use it.

The system then asks for Martins Mobile phone number, and also provides Martin with 3 numbers

    - a number to send text messages to in this case 01242 666333 - a publish pin code 111111 - a subscribe pin code 222222 Martin is also asked to send an initial message '111111pub########' to verify the details. (where ######## is the code name for his service) So Martin sends a message "111111pubBroadwayJFC" to number 01242 666333 and gets a reply "BroadwayJFC Active". That's it. A simple couple of calls and its set up.. So what would happen using this service ? Well at the start of the season Martin would tell all of his team and interested parties that for announcemen...
