Method and Program for Runtime Determination of Program Loading and Execution Environment

This invention provides a mechanism by which a software component can specify another software component/system that is responsible for correctly loading and executing the subject software component. Both these components can be registered during runtime such that the housing environment has no direct coupling to the subject component or its loading/executing

This provides maximum flexibility in software loading and execution, as the housing environment is not coupled to the loading and execution needs of component software.

This invention facilitates component software specifying their "loading and execution" needs via XML declarations that declare their "loading and execution component" responsible for correctly loading and executing the subject component. Following is an example of such a declaration:

<!-- component to load and execute

* LoadAndExecuteDriver is and element that contains the full qualified name of the component that loads and executes the specified component * Component is the fully qualified name of the component to load and execute -->

<!ELEMENT ComponentDefinition (LoadAndExecuteDriver, Component)> <!ATTLIST ComponentDefinition % Name;>

When a new component is introduced into the environment, the above XML is supplied to indicate the component added ("Component"), and the software component that is responsible for loading and executing the component ("L...
