Abstract

In correction of the recognition result in OCR (optical character recognition), there is the method (it is henceforth called carpet correction) of sorting and correcting a recognition candidate for every character code. Although the "ambiguous entry character" expressed by the code of ? on a screen, it sorts in order of a second recognition candidate's internally. However, when the whole recognition field is canceled by the double line, the sorting in the order of the recognition field can correct more efficiently rather than sorting of a recognition candidate's order. Then, the increase in efficiency of correction is attained by changing the turn of sorting of carpet correction in order of a recognition candidate's order, or the recognition field.

In carpet correction, when there is a character canceled by the double line, it is corrected as  follows. 

1. Change a correction screen to sorting in the order of the recognition field. 
2. When a correction result canceled by the double line is in the margin of the recognition field,  it displays the expansion screen of the field. 
3. The recognition field canceled by the double line is corrected collectively. 
4. Change a correction screen to sorting of a recognition candidate's order, and correct the  remainder.
