Description

              The disclosed method is a shielded capacitor. Two grounding layers protect the cap (see Figure 1) from external electrostatic discharge (ESD).

              The key element of the method includes top and bottom ground layers of the cap shorted together to protect the capacitor from ESD.

              The disclosed method can be implemented using the following process steps:

1.           Ceramic material formulation and mixing

2.           Ceramic layers stack up

3.           Press

4.           Dicing

5.           Ceramic firing

6.           Termination striping

7.           Termination cure

8.           Plating

9.           Test

10.         Visual Inspection
