Method and apparatus to improve the security of confidential document

Disclosed is a method to improve the security of confidential type of emails sent with configurable delivery options.

When sending confidential type of emails with configurable delivery options, this applications provides a feature which allows the sender to disable the "forward" and "copy" functionalities in the delivery options. In effect, the wish of the sender is that the content of document is intended only for the eyes of the recipient. The problem is, the recipient of this kind of e-mail can still use "System Print Screen" i.e. CTRL + ALT + PrintScreen. To programmatically capture the confidential content and forward the content a serious security hole exists, which can compromise the confidentiality of a document.

The new security functionality can be achieved by means of a software plug-in for existing software, or this security functionality can be added to a new release of software.

This plugin gets invoked when "System PrintScreen" function or other third party PrintScreen function is used to copy or forward the content of focused window created by sendmail with delivery option set to disabled "forward" and "copy". The plugin makes the system calls to the operating system to disable the print screen button on the focused window. When the focus is lost, the plugin makes another call to enable the print screen button. Thus, the plugin solves the security and confidentiality problem.
