Method for a combination Ethernet/power cable

Disclosed is a method for a combination Ethernet/power cable in one. Benefits include improved usability.  Typical applications would include using the power and Ethernet cable for portable laptop computers.

Background

Today people must carry a power cord for their laptop and an Ethernet cable when they carry their computer.  Having to carry and pack two sets of cabling (Ethernet and power cord) can tangle, add extra weight, and take up added space.

Description

The disclosed method is a combination Ethernet/power cable (see Figure 1). It connects to a unit that contains a power strip with several power and Ethernet connections. The cord has two heads (one for power and one for Ethernet connections) that curl up and extend for traveling and ease of use.

Advantages

The disclosed method provides advantages, including:

•             Improved usability due to providing one connection to both power and Ethernet outlets.

·        Less weight and space needed in computer bag with less cabling.

·        Convenience to business and personal travelers by helping consumers prevent forgetting to bring their Ethernet cable since both power and Ethernet cable are one unit.
