Abstract

The idea solves the problem of high performance requirements for centralized or decentralized CCF (Charging Collection Function) inside a 3G (third generation) mobile network including IMS (Information Management System) functionality. 3GPP TS 32.200 (Third Generation Partnership Project) offers two options of implementing CCF functions: Centralized CCF as a single collection point and decentralized implemented function in the server or IMS network elements. Therefore, one option could be to implement both alternatives. This opportunity will be used for load sharing between centralized and decentralized CCF. To decrease the performance, the top performance requirements inside the overall CCF network, the load fluctuation inside the service NE (network element) and IMS NE should be used for CCF functionality. In case of not sufficient performance inside the service NE and IMS NE the ticket collection should be forwarded towards the centralized CCF. This based under the assumption the load inside the different network elements is not the same. This offers the option to reduce the performance requirements for the single CCF entities and the performance requirements for the centralized CCF can also be reduced.
