WMI Test Tool

Disclosed is a method for a test tool that troubleshoots issues found in the NCS WMI providers.

Background

Currently, testers of the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) conduct tests through a proprietary GUI interface, which does not allow for negative testing or the logging of events and methods.

General Description

The disclosed method is a configuration utility used to test the NCS WMI providers. The tool is used to troubleshoot issues found in the NCS WMI providers. The tool also allows users to access and configure network components for both local and remote computers, provides negative testing by changing adapter settings to values outside the recommended range, and supports detailed event logging. The tool was developed using Visual Basic .NET (see Figure 1).

Advantages

The disclosed method enables negative testing and the logging of events and methods, and allows testers to connect to remote machines.
