Abstract

During the development of the hot plug portion of the Amazonas thin node, it became necessary to create a more free flowing air flowing air path between PCI cards. While allowing for air flow it also was necessary to allow for rather large connectors to be seated and unseated at will while not disturbing adjacent cards. These cards also need to be swapped while node is installed and fully powered. EMC was contained at a card to card level at this point.

   This enormous task was solved by developing a "non rigid or fully free floating" tailgate, which utilizes all standard PCI tail brackets and this custom unique clip on finger stock. This bracket not only allows for proper air flow while using the hot plug mechanism, but can be easily adaptable to infinite card pitches by lengthening or shortening the compliant leg. The clip on design is as stated "clip on" and does not rely on PCI cards to be inserted vertically like all other commercially available PCI tailstocks.
