This article discloses a sealing mechanism for HDD covers. As is the figure below, the soft damping layer of the tri-laminate seal protrudes the holes which accomodate the screws for the pivot and spindle motor.

Screw Hole Sealing by Tri-laminate Top Cover

   This article discloses a sealing mechanism for HDD covers. As is
the figure below, the soft damping layer of the tri-laminate seal
protrudes the holes which accomodate the screws for the pivot and
spindle motor.

The damping layer is compressed onto the shaft by the screw,
therefore creating a hermetic seal. The hole for the screw in
the damping layer is smaller than in the steel.

In conventional structures, these screw holes for the pivot
and spindle created inperfections of leak performance.
Therefore, seal tapes were applied afterwards creating excess
cost and labor. The invented structure reduces these costs.
