Abstract

Disclosed is a system for received fax data transmission. This system sends only the fax cover sheet (the first page) of received fax data as a reception notification. The reception notification can also contain an outline. A system which sends a reception notification through network automatically when data is received is already present. The following forms of the reception notification exist: 1. A message that the data was received 2. A message that the received data is attached 3. A message that have a link to the stored data A disadvantage for 1 and 3 is that the contents of the received data is unknown and one for 2 is that the reception notification itself may be very large. Fax cover sheets contain important data concisely and the format is relatively standardized, therefore, the receivers can easily know the information of the received data. The reception notification is small and the network load and the receiver's data storage capacity can be reduced. In case of outlines, the receivers can know outlines and the reception notification is small, too.

Received data transmission system

Disclosed is a system for received fax data transmission. This
system sends only the fax cover sheet (the first page) of received
fax data as a reception notification. The reception notification
can also contain an outline.

A system which sends a reception notification through network
automatically when data is received is already present. The
following forms of the reception notification exist:
1. A message that the data was received
2. A message that the received data is attached
3. A message that have a link to the stored data

A disadvantage for 1 and 3 is that the contents of the received
data is unknown and one for 2 is that the reception notification
itself may be very large.

Fax cover sheets contain important data concisely and the format is
relatively standardized, therefore, the receivers can easily know
the information of the received data. The reception notification
is small and the network load and the receiver's data storage
capacity can be reduced. In case of outlines, the receivers can
know outlines and the reception notification is small, too.

The reception notifications are sent as follows:
1. The device that received data stores the data to the data
storage part.
2. The device that received data makes an outline using a known
technique.
3. The device that received data separates the fax cover sheet (the
first page).
4. The device that received data sends a reception notification
which contains the fax cover sheet and/or the outline.
