Abstract

The idea makes CAMEL (Customized Applications for Mobile network Enhanced Logic) standards as defined in 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) TS (Telecommunication Standard) 23.278 usable for any kind of IMS (Information Management System) service. With the integration of an ATSfC (Address Translation Function for CAMEL) with the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) a non E164 address could be interpreted by this function. The non E164 address will be sent via the LDAP from the IM-SSF (Internet Protocol Multimedia Service Switching Function) to the ATSfC. The ATSfC includes a database which contains a interpretable address for the CAMEL protocol in E164 address format. The E164 format address will be sent back to the IM-SSF. This offers the additional option to reuse the CAMEL protocol without extending it.
