Word Registration method for Text-to-Speech (TTS) using NAKAGURO character as
pause in yomi string

A program is disclosed that performs word registration operation for TTS using
NAKAGURO character as pause in yomi string.

There are several conventional methods for users to specify pause into
synthesized voice speech.

Method a) edit prosody information graphically (Its operation is hard and
heavy for nonprofessional users.)

Method b) register prosodic symbols with yomi into dictionary (The symbols are
complicated and different among TTS makers.)

Method c) insert prosodic tags into text to be read by TTS (Text string must
be preprocessed. )

Described are the points of the invention as follows:
1) specify pause information as parts of yomi string when users register a
word into dictionary
2) use a NAKAGURO character which means 1-mora pause duration as parts of yomi
string.

(NAKAGURO character is easy-to-understand and easy-to-use to specify pause)

Flow of disclosed program:

Step1. User register a word which has NAKAGURO character as parts of yomi
string into dictionary.

Step2. TTS program analyzes input text with various dictionaries.
Step3. As the result of dictionary search , user-registered words using
NAKAGURO in yomi string are found.

Step4. Convert a NAKAGURO character in yomi string to a pause which duration
is given as the average of 1 mora length.

Step5. Voice synthesis part syn...
