New enclosure sealing method for Flex cable in HDD

    Disclosed is a method of sealing head/disk package for small hard disk drives.
This method requires flex cable which is integrated with rubber seal on its
surface and drive chassis
which has a hole flex cable passing through .

    It permits to design thinner sealing system of disk drive chassis along flex
cable outlet to contribute to
smaller form factor.

And also it achieves simple assembly process on subjected area.

This invention claims following items to structure this sealing method.

- Flex cable - that has integarted seal rubber on its surface
and is reinforced with stiffner.

                            Rubber is surrounded flex cable at sealing
position.

         - Drive chassis - that has a outlet for flex cable and recess for
rubber seal along this outlet

    And flex cable with rubber seal is inserted to the outlet on drive chassis
when it is assembled.

    At that time, rubber seal is contacted to chassis and make a sealing on this
position. (Fig.1)

This method enable to design sealing system with minimum dimensions/volume.
On actual application, its dimension achieves 1mm for rubber thickness and
0.9mm for its height.(Fig.2)

And also assembly work load on this area is reduced because this method do
not require
screws nor any other fastening. This method just requires to insert flex cable
to outlet
on drive chassis.
