Abstract

Disclosed is a lighting method of the embossed card image reader which is installed in an automated consulting machine in financial companies. The whole surface of the embossed card which is fed into the machine is lighted up equally and effectively by a small electric lamp and reflection plates. Therefore, the embossed surface image is captured by the CCD camera clearly.

Ligting Method of Embossed Card Image Reader

Disclosed is a lighting method of the embossed card image reader
which is installed in an automated consulting machine in financial
companies. The whole surface of the embossed card which is fed into
the machine is lighted up equally and effectively by a small electric
lamp and reflection plates. Therefore, the embossed surface image is
captured by the CCD camera clearly.

    Figure 1 shows the side and over view of the card image reader.
The card image reader is installed at the back of the magnetic stripe
reader and the card is fed into the card image reader. The lamp 1
does not light up the card surface directly because of the lamp box 2.
The light of the lamp 1 is reflected at random by the upper reflection
3, rear reflection 4, side reflection 5 and 6. Therefore, the whole
surface of the embossed card is lighted up equally and effectively.
The embossed surface image is captured by the CCD camera 7. Figure 2
shows the captured card image.
