Self Sufficient Printer

Disclosed is a system designed to allow printers to be more self-sufficient. Printers have set supplies of ink and toner. It is a common occurrence for a company to not realize that a printer is running low on ink or toner. As a result of this, a company might have to wait for a toner/ink order to be placed and usage of the printer might halt. The proposed system aims to provide a more automated ordering system of printer supplies. The proposed system will automate the task of ordering printer supplies using web services. The system will allow an administrator to provide a list of preferred vendors from which a company can order printer supplies. When a printer supply gets close to running out, the printer will automatically make a web service call to the list of user specified vendors and get a bid from the company for the "best" price. The printer can then automatically place the order, without involving human interaction. The printer might also analyze its usage history to determine how long its given supplies of ink, toner, etc. will last based on previous usage. It can use this data to figure out how much time it has to complete the receiving of a needed supply.
