   This article describes a method of printing solution for the web based
document management system.

However the printing job is initially requested from the web-client, there are
restrictions on printing a document on the printer attached to the web-client
device. For example, server initiated push-printing cannot be available on the
web browser.

Our method separates the web browsing session and the printing session from
the server's point of view. Printing session is established between the server
and a dedicated printing program outside the web browser but running on the
same client device. The printing program can communicate with the server over
the TCP/IP connection. Even if the both types of sessions are separated, the
web browser and the printing program can work cooperatively because the
underlying TCP/IP communication layer, which is provided by the operating
system, is shared.

This method provides not only web client printing scheme but also provides the
direct server-to-printer printing. If the server recognizes a network attached
printer as the destination, the server can redirect a print job to the network
attached printer. On the other hand, the server automatically selects the same
client address as the printing destination for the first case.
