Disclosed is a strucure of base plate which has radial rib
in the region of spindle motor in Hard Disk Drive(HDD).

Fig.1 shows an example of the base plate
in Hard Disk Drive. A part of spindle
motor is located in the hole(1) and
fixed by screws. The vibration caused
by spindle motor generates acoustic
noise from base plate. If the resonance
frequency of base plate is closed to the
vibration frequency of spindle motor,
the acoustic noise becomes worse.
Generally, several types of damper are
adopted on base plate(2) to improve the
acoustic noise problem. However, this
way needs additional parts and it means
increase of product cost.

This disclosure proposes to form rib on
the local part of base plate. The rib(3)
shown in Fig.2 is radially shaped by
base casting to avoid coupling of
resonance frequency.

Therefore, this structure enable to
decrease the additional parts in Hard
Disk Drive and bring down the total cost
of HDD.

The shape of rib is not limited to be
straight or symmetric, but a curve or
asymmetrical shape are also applicable.
