Abstract

This invention is a software program in a PC based answering manchine that updates the answering machine message in a more informative manner by using a speech synthesizer to give the caller a better indication as to where the called person is at the time of the call as well as when they may return. When the answering machine answers a call, it will scan the user's on-line calendar. If there is a calendar entry for the time of the call, then the answering machine will articulate what event the called person may be participating in (instead of just giving the canned message and give an indication of when the called person will be free based on their calendar entries. 1
