Abstract

Disclosed is Signal Quality Analysis Automation (SQAA), a voice activated measurement tool. SQAA consists of a PC, oscilloscope and server interface with software that coordinates and automates the signal quality analysis process. The tool performs various measurements on each signal. The results of the specified measurements will determine the characteristics of the signal. This automated tool will make the signal quality measurement results more consistent between engineers/technicians and streamline the process to make it more efficient. Hardware Requirements For optimal system performance, the hardware requirements include one server PC and a client PC connected directly to each of the oscilloscopes that are used to perform the automated signal quality analysis. The server PC and the client PC(s) are connected together through 10/100 ENET network. Functional Blocks Description

The SQAA functions are divided into three blocks: Project Management (PM), Signal Quality Analysis (SQA) and Data Warehousing (DW). In a normal system configuration, all three functional blocks reside in the server PC and the client PC.

Project Management (PM)

This is the starting block of the SQAA. It is installed in the client PC. It has the following functions:

a. Project setup. The Project setup structure is a Treeview/Listview structure (functions like Windows Explorer). This structure allows for easy creation of folders and subfolders which is necessary for tracking and coordinating the different evaluations/projects performed by SQAA. The engineer inputs the information to set up a folder (directory) and all the sub-folders for a project in the database on the client PC. The engineer defines, in each subsystem, the signals to be analyzed and the type of measurements that will be made on each signal. The engineer can use this same Treeview/Listview structure to add, change or delete any of the information within the project setup.
