Rack Keyboard Tray/Display System

Disclosed is a device that combines a flat panel display and a space saving keyboard with cursor control for use in a rack environment. Designed to occupy a minimum of space, compared with the bulky standard CRT, this minimalistic presence is well suited to the confined dimensions of a rack environment. The major benefits of this device are the modularity, space savings, and ergonomic advantages.

FIG 1

The device is comprised of a few major elements: sliding keyboard tray, space saving keyboard, flat panel monitor, and specialized monitor mount, see FIG 1. This device was designed to offer a variety of solutions to suit an array of needs. Alone the keyboard tray will support full size keyboards and a variety of space saving keyboards. When optimized with the IBM Space Saver keyboard, the device can be fitted through a specialized monitor mount with a 15" flat panel monitor.

When storage is necessary, the flat panel folds screen down over the keyboard and the tray slides into the rack, occupying a minimum of space. The unit occupies a mere 3U (1U=1.75in=44.5mm) in the storage position. By positioning the flat panel toward the front of the t...
