Disclosed is to increase design freedom to make a partial recess at top
surface of base wall for servo
writing process.

In process of Hard Disk Drive assembly (hereinafter HDD), there is a servo
pattern writing process usually
using external clock head (FIG.1) Cover and seal is assembled to base after
servo write process.(FIG.2)

One of base function should be higher rigidity which is strongly related to a
height of base wall. HDD
rigidity improves non-operational shock and operational vibration performance.
So a tall wall of base is
one of key parameter for HDD design. On the other hand , External servo clock
head access to disk.

So a wall height is limited to be under clock head as FIG.1

This disclosed is to make a partial recess on top surface of base wall to
avoid interference between clock
head and base wall as FIG.1. Partial recess dose not decrease total base
rigidity. So this disclosed is
a method to optimize base rigidity with considering servo writing process.

FIG.3 shows sequence (-1, -2, -3) in servo writing process.
