Abstract

Disclosed is a card type single board computer for multiple bus architectures. Many card type single board computers support only one system bus interface, ISA bus or PCI bus. This method can allow one board to support both PCI and ISA bus interfaces and reduce slot space on a back plane board. It also provides upgrade path from ISA system to PCI system and capability to add new PCI bus platform to existing ISA bus platform. New card form is shown as Figure.1. From the component side view, PCI bus connector is placed on the upper edge of a card and ISA bus connector is placed on the lower edge of a card. In this case, PCI or ISA mounting bracket is attached on the right edge of a card. Mounting bracket is easy removable and the suitable bracket can be attached to fit the installed slot. Physical dimension of connectors, logical pin assignment and bus conventions should be complied with standardized rules for each buse. PCI Mounting Bracket
